Citation Help

Library Citation Guides

DSU’s library produces excellent resources for citation help. As part of their mission to support students’ research, library faculty routinely create and update detailed guides regarding proper source documentation.

Purdue OWL

Purdue University’s online writing lab is renowned for providing detailed, accurate information on formatting and citation conventions. Their website provides a wide range of examples and instructions.

 

Grammar Help

Grammar Book

Grammar Book is a website (as well as a physical book) packed with information and examples on various grammar, punctuation, and formatting rules.

Grammarly

Grammarly is SpellCheck on steroids. A subscription-based software, Grammarly is capable of identifying hundreds of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and content errors.

Writing Center Tutorials

The Writing Center routinely produces materials designed to provide supplemental instruction on a variety of writing topics. These materials are organized into two part “tutorials” containing written handouts and brief video explanations.

 

Study Skills Help

Library Study Skills Guides

The product of a collaborative effort between the Writing Center, Academic Performance Center, and Library, DSU’s Study Skills Handouts provide a brief overview of peripheral skills all college students need to succeed. Additional coaching on these skills is provided by the Academic Performance Center.

 

Mini-Lessons & Learning Modules

Utah Online Library

Utah’s Online Library contains a wide variety of resources for students at every point in their academic careers. Through the Online Library’s website, students can access learning modules that teach math, science, reading, writing, and grammar principles. The website also contains study guides and test prep for major placement tests.

Academic Resources on Campus

Academic Performance Center

The Academic Performance Center provides free tutoring on nearly all of Dixie State’s academic subjects and is located on the fourth floor of the Holland Centennial Commons.

Career Center

DSU’s Career Center assists students with a variety of professional tools and opportunities. From resumes to internships, the Career Center helps students transition from the classroom into the workplace.

Disabilities Resource Center

The Disabilities Resource Center provides reasonable accommodations to students suffering from disabilities and is located next to the Testing Center in the North Plaza building.

DSU Reference Desk

The Reference Desk on the second floor of the Holland Centennial Commons allows students to meet directly with librarians in order to make research and documentation support easily accessible.
